Our Perfect Hat pattern gets some custom made love with help of DTF Printing. My customers love my choices in fabric from year to year which are usually based on the outdoors. IF I can't find butterflies and dragonflies that I know they will love then that usually effects my sales.
This year, given all the challenges of getting fabric across the border, I decide to make use of my large stock of solid fabric and see if I could make my own designs incorporating the outdoors themes.
I have had one wholesale customer already re-order the patriotic design with the dragonflies and maple leaf (Canada theme) and other customers buy up the other designs from our website. I use one of dozens of regional companies who are set up near me to help create the film once I have made my artwork. The company I use is DFT Canada based in Ottawa, Canada but there are several of these print shops in every city in the world as this is fast becoming the preferred way to create customized clothing.
Direct to Film Printing is a modern digital printing method where a design is printed onto a special plastic film and then heat-transferred directly onto fabric. It has quickly become a massive game-changer in the custom apparel industry. I would say that it is mostly used in the T-shirt industry but it is something that I will use for canvas bags as well as my hats. This is because it allows you to print vibrant, full-color, highly detailed images that can be applied to virtually any fabric type or color.
